​In his combined playing time in the NPB and MLB, Suzuki received 17 consecutive selections both as an All-Star and Gold Glove winner, won nine league batting titles, and was named most valuable player (MVP) four times. In the NPB, he won seven consecutive batting titles and three consecutive Pacific League MVP Awards. In 2001, Suzuki became the first Japanese-born position player to be posted and signed to an MLB club.[2] He led the American League (AL) in batting average and stolen bases enroute to being named AL Rookie of the Year and AL MVP.


This 1999 game used Ichiro bat show excellent game use. The has ball, stitch and ink transfer marks. There is pine tar on the handle typical of Ichiro bats. On the knob is correctly stamped the model O51 which identifies the bat as one produced for Ichiro's use. Ichiro bats from any era are difficult to find, this is a super rare example dating his second to last season in Japan before making his major league debut in 2001.
